Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need an appointment to visit you?
You are more than welcome to walk in and browse; however, if you can call to book an appointment, this would be ideal so adequate time is given to each individual. Be assured of a warm welcome from our fully trained team of optical assistants and dispensing opticians.
Do you carry out the eye examination?
No, we don’t carry out eye exams. We specialise in dispensing frames and lenses. There might be scope to offer this in the future.
How do I get a prescription for glasses?
Whenever you have an eye examination, the person who tests your eyes should provide you with a copy of your prescription. This is the law and your legal right, introduced to give you a choice of where you would like to get your glasses. You should never feel obliged to buy from the person who tests your eyes.
Are you cheaper than high street opticians?
Yes, we are. Our location and on-site lab mean we can keep costs down. This means we can offer you the same products with noticeable savings. We also offer free parking at our site too.
How long does it normally take to get my glasses?
We aim to complete your glasses within 10 working days (2 weeks) but often manage to get this done much quicker and will advise you when your spectacles are ready for collection.
Do you carry out glasses repairs on site?
Yes, we are trained in a range of simple glasses repairs, e.g. replacement nose pads or screws. Any complex repairs that we are not able to do immediately will be sent to our trusted repair centres and returned to you as soon as possible.
Can I have lenses in my own frame?
Absolutely! We are among the few that allow you to keep the frame you love and simply have your lenses updated and replaced. This is subject to the condition of the frame.
Do you reglaze any type of frame?
Yes, we can reglaze most types of frames, including rimless models.
What brands/types of varifocals do you offer?
We have access to a wide range of varifocals, anything from our own brand of lenses to Zeiss, Kodak, Essilor (Varilux), and many more. Whenever you visit us, our trained staff will be able to identify the lens type you are currently wearing and help you to make an informed decision when choosing your new lenses.
Do you recycle glasses?
Yes, we send all donated glasses to a local charity, which will distribute your old glasses for use in third-world countries.
Do you accept NHS vouchers?
Yes, we accept all NHS (GOS) vouchers, and it’s now easier than ever for us to process your voucher via the latest NHS online system.
